Mitch

Mitch has been with Music Specialists for a few years now, His passion for music is evident when you walk through the door. He lives and breathes guitars and effects and music in general! He is the unofficial tunes selector for the instore music. You can find Mitch most days in store helping customers, answering customer calls and just generally living his best life.

Outside of work (is it really work?), Mitch loves camping, his dog Boof and playing in his band.

Piano. I played it because Dad was a musician and there was one at home. I wanted to learn to Play Riders on The Storm by the Doors. So that’s how I started.
I love playing and listening to Blues, Folk, and Soul.
Stevie Ray Vaughan/Eric Gales/Jimmy Hendrix
Guitar and own about 8.
Valarie – Zootons.
Seeing the young kids coming in to the store and their excitement at playing music.
Just be you.

Tulley

Tulley is an owner of Music Specialists alongside his wife Emma. Although no one can really say who is the ‘boss’, Tulley spends his days working his magic on guitar repairs, restrings and services.

Tulley is passionate about all things guitars and has a genuine love for the work that he does. You can find Tulley most days in his workshop fixing guitars, changing pickups, fixing frets and changing strings.

Outside of work, Tulley loves spending time with his family, perfecting his Yorkshire Pudding recipe and relaxing when he can.

Drums. I was a fan of Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil.
Rock – Alternate Rock, Progressive Rock.
Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Ian Moss.
Bass, Drums, Guitar. I mostly play guitar and own about 25.
The Rain Song – Led Zeppelin.
Breathing new life into instruments and showing people how to get the best out of their guitars.
Don’t worry about being like everyone else.

Emma

Emma is an owner of Music Specialists alongside her husband Tulley. Emma works alongside Mitch in store and manages the E-commerce side of the business. Emma loves all things customer service and enjoys getting to know the customers when they come into the store.

Outside of work Emma loves spending time with the family, loves her dogs (like children), photography and travel. Emma also spends her time eating those Yorkshire Puddings!

Keyboard. It was a Christmas gift. I was probably about 9 or 10 and kept that keyboard until I was an adult.
My taste in music is varied. I love Folk/Bluegrass, Blues, Americana, Soul, Country, Rock. I’m quite partial to the story telling music of traditional Irish music too.
Sam Cooke, Any member of the Beatles collectively and solo, The Eagles, Vince Gill, Otis Redding, The Teskey Brothers, John Mayer, Eva Cassidy. There are too many to count!
I have tried to learn a few. I love my Irish tin whistle, I will often sit behind the piano and try and improve my skills and I have been trying to learn the guitar and the ukulele. But if I could learn any instrument and play it well it would absolutely be the fiddle!
Ar Èireann Nì Neosfaiin Cè Hì is one of my favourite songs to play on the piano and I love playing the song Grace on the tin whistle.
Definitely the people that we meet every day. I never take for granted the wonderful community.
Good things take time. With music, you play for yourself first and foremost before you play for others, and as long as you find the joy in playing, just keep going.
